Candon’s DILG is Region’s Best

Candon City’s Local Government Operation Officer Victoria Ramos and her team were recently adjudged as the Region’s best performing DILG City team for 2008.

“Commitment to work,” Ramos summed up their winning formula which is a follow up to their second place finish in 2007.

Ramos, a national and regional trainer/facilitator, has been serving in the city since july 2001.

She was quick to admit that the support of the city government led by City Mayor Allen Singson and the barangay officials was one of the keys in winning the award.

“I owe it to the city government and barangay officials for their full support,” Ramos said.

She also cited competence and knowledge as additional reasons.

“You cannot give what you do not have,” she pointed out.

Certainly she has what it takes to be the region’s best.

Ramos, 55, is a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education graduate with post graduate studies in Master on Urban Management in Netherlands.

In her more than three decades in government service with most of it spent in DILG, she had previously received numerous recognitions for her works and performances making her one of the most awarded DILG official in the Region.

Ramos said that the main functions of her office is capacity building, provision of technical assistance on areas of governance and monitor compliance of Local Government Code, national issuances and other related concerns to the Local Government Units.

She received all praises from the city officials and employees.

“She really deserves the recognition. We are lucky to have a very competent and tireless working head of our city DILG family,” City Mayor Allen Singson said.

Presently Ramos is also designated as OIC Assistant Provincial Director of Ilocos Sur. (LBJ)
